Burnout is a state of mental and physical exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It can reduce your productivity and sap your energy, leaving you feeling helpless, hopeless and as if you have nothing left to give. Burnout is a widespread phenomenon amongst helping professionals who, often at the expense of their own health, devote much of their time and energy caring for others.
